In a new statement on their website, the wholesale company is urging shoppers to do their part to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Costco Canada customers are asked to wear masks “at all times” when on the company’s premises, in accordance with new national guidelines.
In a notice on their website on May 21, the wholesale store explained, “Public health experts recommend the use of masks or face coverings in public settings.”
“To protect our members and employees, it is recommended that all Costco members and guests wear a mask or face covering that covers the mouth and nose, at all times while on Costco premises.
The company noted that this new request does not apply to children under the age of two, or to individuals who are unable to wear a mask due to a medical condition
Speaking on Wednesday, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Theresa Tam explained, “If you’re wearing it, you’re protecting other people against your droplets.”
The prime minister is also now ensuring he has his mask handy, even when he’s working on Parliament Hill.
He told reporters on Wednesday, “In situations where I’m either walking through the halls of Parliament or going to my office and coming into proximity with people, I’ve chosen to start wearing a mask.”
