Sony Says PlayStation 5 Games Won’t Be Made Compatible With PlayStation 4

 Xbox team has made clear that most Xbox Series X games will be playable on existing Xbox One consoles for at least the first two years of the former’s launch, Sony has now revealed that it would be taking a different approach, instead showing no intention to make PlayStation 5 games compatible for its current generation.

Speaking to developers via GamesIndustry.biz, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO and president Jim Ryan said: “We have always said that we believe in generations.

“In our view, people should make games that can make the most of those features…whether it’s the DualSense controller, whether it’s the 3D audio, whether it’s the multiple ways that the SSD can be used… we are thinking that it is time to give the PlayStation community something new, something different, that can really only be enjoyed on PS5.”

However, Ryan also reassured those currently on the PlayStation 4 that Sony won’t be leaving them behind any time soon. “”We have always felt that we had a responsibility to serve that [PS4] community for several years after the launch of PS5,” he said. “The numbers are quite straightforward.
