Canadians travelling to the U.K. will soon need advance permission to enter, even for short trips. Starting Feb. 25, 2026, the U.K. will strictly enforce its Electronic Travel Authorization requirement for visitors from visa-exempt countries, including Canada.
Travelers will need to apply online or through an app, submit biometric information, and pay a £16 fee to visit for up to six months. The U.K. government says the move is aimed at tightening border security and modernizing immigration checks.
